Wieland supplies Metalynx2 underfloor system for new Amazon office

Wieland Electric’s Metalynx² structured wiring underfloor system has been incorporated in the refurbishment of Hanover House, Manchester, home to Amazon’s first UK corporate office facility outside of London. The building is situated on the corner of Corporation Street and Hanover Street, between Victoria station and Shudehill and is providing 90,000sq.ft. of office space for 600 Amazon employees spread over its six storeys.

The Metalynx² 32A system has been utilised to serve all underfloor services throughout the six floors, using 6 port Main Distribution Boxes (MDBs) which are connected to 6-way underfloor boxes with tap-offs which, in turn, feed RCBO modules onto under desk modules. All RCBO and under desk modules have been connected using Wieland’s gesis systems.

Wieland’s Metalynx² structured wiring system is perfect for power distribution, lighting control (including DALI and KNX) and fan coil units, with the facility for customising the Metalynx² components for special projects. The newly launched system offers easy to install solutions for 32A, dual circuit and high integrity earthing requirements. Using a patented coding system for different applications, the system incorporates round connectors to minimise space and to facilitate installation through firewalls. With its innovative design, Metalynx² incorporates a minimum number of components which includes an H-distribution block, T-piece, switch modules for PIR, one-way switching applications and a fused spur for fixed power supplies. These sections all lock together for quick, secure and safe installation.

Structured wiring is now established as the industry standard for fast track projects and Metalynx² is part of a smarter generation that helps to deliver even more savings on costs and installation time. The system also offers a high degree of flexibility so, should layouts be altered at time of installation or in the future, changes can be adopted quickly with minimum effort or downtime.
