Scolmore adds new RCD sockets to its wiring accessories range

Scolmore has recently added three new RCD socket outlets to its Essentials wiring accessories range – a 13A 2-gang Type A passive RCD switched socket outlet, a 13A 2 gang IP66 weatherproof Type A passive RCD switched socket outlet, and a 13A 2-gang Metal Clad Type A passive RCD switched socket outlet. An RCD is a sensitive safety device that switches off electricity automatically if there is a fault. It is designed to protect against the risks of electrocution and fire caused by earth faults. Scolmore’s new RCD sockets are socket-outlets with an RCD built into them which can be used in place of a standard socket-outlet. These are known as passive RCDs which means that when power is lost due to a fault the RCD disconnects and isolates the piece of equipment it is protecting. Passive RCDs do not trip during power cuts. They are also known as Latching RCDs.

The 13A 2-gang Type A passive RCD switched socket outlet can providea retrofit solution for domestic dwellings with no RCD devices. For more information, visit www.scolmore.com
