Kidde raises the bar for safety at UK Construction

Kidde Safety Europe will be exhibiting and delivering accredited CPD presentations during the ‘UK Construction Week’ event at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 10-12 October. It will highlight key aspects of specifying smoke and heat alarms as the first line of defence for fire safety in an uncertain world and taking a similar approach with CO alarms to help prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

At UK Construction, Kidde looks to engage with the widest possible construction and housing industry audience about key safety issues. The aim is to change the dynamic in protection against fire and carbon monoxide poisoning away from theoretically based, restrictive minimum standards towards a more practical approach. Here, smoke, heat and CO alarms should be considered as critical low-cost early warnings, that merit comprehensive application in all housing.

These issues will be discussed during Kidde’s CPD Workshops on Tuesday 10th October at 11:30 and Wednesday 11th October at 14:30. They will also form the focus of Kidde’s Stand B15, close to the Hall 9 entrance. Here, Kidde’s latest generation of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms, accessories and other safety products for all types of housing will be on show.

They include self-contained battery alarms for immediate installation by anyone, as well as interconnected mains smoke and heat alarms to meet BS 5839-6, with Kidde’s unique Smart Interconnect feature to link mains CO alarms as well.

Kidde Safety Europe is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms – this year marking a century of working to make the world a better and safer place. The Kidde Company was founded in 1917 and has grown from a small, family-run business to today’s multi-national company.

As a member of the United Technologies Corporation (UTC), Kidde sits alongside iconic brands such as Chubb fire and security systems, Carrier heating and air conditioning, Hamilton Sundstrand aerospace systems and industrial products, Otis elevators and escalators, Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines and UTC Power fuel cells.
