Hughes Trade celebrates ties with Sonos

Hughes Trade is celebrating, following its appointment to sub distributor by California-based electronics firm, Sonos.

It will now supply the entire range of Sonos products to installers, businesses and large organisations throughout the country – including the company’s own connected technology specialist department, Hughes Smart.

Sonos, founded in 2002, has pioneered the development of wireless sound systems for use in any kind of building and controlled via an App on a tablet or smartphone. This can include speakers on ceilings, walls or weather resistant ones engineered to withstand humidity, water, salt spray, heat, UV rays, and freezing temperatures, as well as sound systems specifically for TVs.

“Sonos are delighted to add Hughes Trade as a UK sub distributor,” said Stephen Rhead from the company. “As a strong partner selling Sonos for many years, we made the decision to add their Trade Desks to our sub distribution.

“Their level of service and excellent teams across the UK, will help bring brilliant sound to many homes.”

Added Hughes Trade General Manager Paul Chisnall, “This is a massive boost for our business and we are delighted Sonos chose Hughes Trade to become a sub-distributor enabling us to provide its range of market leading products to commercial organisations throughout the UK from our 14 branches.

“This includes a newly launched range of architectural speakers which offer flush mounts for both walls and ceilings.

“Distribution of Sonos products is very carefully controlled and Hughes Trade has signed a declaration of standards and service.

“While its high-quality speakers were originally designed for domestic use they are increasingly being used for commercial purposes.

“Sonos is the market leader when it comes to modern day listening to music or the radio, you can have different things playing in different rooms, or locations. Its interface software, which is regularly updated over the internet, allows the organisation of music streaming, a personal music library and internet radio services.”

Hughes Trade was started in 2007 and currently has 8,500 active accounts operating from its 14 branches throughout the country with over 50 members of staff.

The Hughes Electrical Group has approaching 1,000 employees, an annual turnover of £125m, and more than 120,000 electrical items on rental at any one time. It has around 35 stores countrywide and a highly successful website from which customers can order direct, arrange an instore demonstration or ‘click & collect’.
