EW June issue out now!

The June issue of Electrical Wholesaler has arrived!

As we go to press, the country is just beginning to emerge from its strict lockdown, with the Government set to announce a graduated lifting of social restrictions from Monday 1 June.

However, the commercial impact on the UK will not be so easily repaired. According to a survey conducted by Simply Business, Covid-19 is set to cost small business owners £11,799 on average – with 67% having been forced to temporarily close. With a total cost to UK SMEs exceeding £69 billion, it’s estimated over 230,000 of them have already been forced to permanently stop trading.

That said, over a fifth of those surveyed are feeling optimistic about life after the pandemic has eased, while 75% said they’ll continue or restart their business. A further 10% even said they’re confident they’ll start a new business. Small and medium-sized businesses are the heart of the UK economy, and staying positive and continuing to plan for the future is the surest way to ensure that the wholesalers come through the crisis changed, but still extant.

Our front cover this month features leading electronics manufacturer Timeguard,. On page 10, technical manager Peter Staniforth explains how smart Wi-Fi technology is bridging the installation gap and allowing wholesalers to take advantage of consumers’ enthusiasm for AI applications.

This issue also includes special features on Cable Management, Kitchens and Bathrooms and Access Control, as well the latest guidance from industry bodies on how the sector can plan for and manage business under -19.

Happy reading!
