ESP boosts its credentials

ESP has announced two significant achievements this month, as the company continues to build its reputation and credentials in the industry. As well as being accepted as a member of the FIA (Fire Industry Association), the ESP team has been successful in gaining the new International Quality Standard ISO 9001:2015 certification.

The FIA is the largest fire protection trade association in the UK, and with more than 800 members, it represents a significant proportion of the industry and is a major provider of fire safety training. Their main objectives are to promote, improve and perfect fire protection methods, devices, services and apparatus and they achieve this through the representation of their members and provide technical support, guidance and opportunities for professional advancement through education and regulation.

As part of their membership ESP will benefit from the association’s commitment to setting industry best practice and shaping standards and influencing legislation, as well having access to comprehensive and high quality training and unrivalled technical publications. This will ensure that ESP remains at the forefront in the fire protection industry and means they can share their learning with their customers to help them develop their businesses.

Certification to ISO 9001:2015 provides assurance that ESP has evolved its management system to meet the growing needs of its customers and other key stakeholders.

Awarded by certification body NQA, ISO 9001:2015 is the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS) and the most widely used QMS standard in the world, with over 1.1 million certificates issued to organisations in 178 countries. ISO 9001 provides a framework and set of principles that ensure a common-sense approach to the management of an organisation to consistently satisfy customers and other stakeholders. In simple terms, it provides the basis for effective processes and effective people to deliver an effective product or service time after time.

Heather Wiggins is Systems Manager at Scolmore Group, with responsibility for co-ordinating and implementing the accreditation process, and comments: “This achievement has been very much a team effort, with the involvement of people from across the organisation and support from the senior leadership team, enabling a smooth transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015. It was a thorough and challenging process to go through, but essential in being able to show our customers that our standards and processes are up to date.”
