December issue out now!

Welcome to the December issue of Electrical Wholesaler!

I really can’t believe it has been almost a full year since I started on EW magazine. I can’t say it’s been the year I’ve expected, but as a relative newcomer to the electrotechnical industry it has definitely been a year of learning. I have greatly enjoyed all my (virtual) conversations and discussions with individuals and companies from all aspects of the industry, and with the positive news of a COVID-19 vaccine, I am looking forward to 2021 with hope that the industry comes back even stronger and more resilient than before.

On to the issue. Our December cover features electronics manufacturer Di-LOG, who forewent a traditional cover story in favour of a message from marketing & business development director David Sweetman, who explains why he feels a personal responsibility to the industry to keep critical safety equipment affordable and easily accessible.

Our feature on Automation sees J2’s Chris Irwin share his thoughts on the changing role of lighting in smart buildings. With advances in smart building technology, energy efficiency and lighting control is easier than ever – find out more on page 20.

I also spoke with the EDA’s Richard Appleton this month for an update on the association’s vital work on its EDATA project. As we enter 2021, digitalisation is more important than ever all along the supply chain – for manufacturers and wholesalers alike. Turn to page 24 to read the full interview.

Also in this issue is a feature on wiring accessories from industry leader Hamilton (14), as well as an update on training and apprenticeships in the industry (30). Plus, as always, our usual news, views, product innovations and installations from market-leading businesses.

Happy reading!
