Vitesse Plus and RAPID lighting control systems, from energy saving controls experts CP Electronics, have been installed to control the lighting in the newly constructed, BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rated Newcastle-under-Lyme College of Performing Arts.

Newcastle Performing Arts

The £5.5 million centre is part of Newcastle College and includes teaching rooms, dance studios, performing arts spaces, a 200 seat auditorium, music studios featuring the latest ProTools software and a student café.

Contractors Gilks Electrical worked closely with CP Electronics to deliver a lighting control solution that would surpass the needs of each individual space. CP’s Vitesse Plus system offered many advantages, including multi-channel switching, PIR and switch control, dimming options and, if required daylight linking.

CP Electronic’s RAPID system was installed to allow for scene setting, which ensures that each area provides the desired level of illumination. The RAPID system is fully addressable and networkable, combining state of the art technology with a simple graphical user interface. Switching between scenes can be achieved via a stylish, easy to use control panel.

Andy Oliver, of Gilks, said: “CP were the preferred supplier for this installation as they offer high quality products which are extremely reliable and easy to install. In addition, CP’s expertise in lighting control for the education sector is second to none and the company were on hand to offer valuable support or advice throughout the installation.”
