Schneider Electric support Waltham Forest College electrical workshop

The first electrical workshop of its kind with electricians and apprentices travelling from across the country to provide a unique hands-on training experience to 270 students at Waltham Forest College
Schneider Electric donated over £1,000 worth of electrical equipment

London (UK) November 1 2021 – Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has supported the Waltham Forest College electrical workshop. The first of its kind, the workshop assisted the education of the next generation of electricians and apprentices from across the country with a unique hands-on training experience.

Schneider Electric is dedicated to supporting the incoming cohort of electric professionals, as well as educational bodies. This workshop not only provided that next generation with valuable hands-on experience, it also provided a blueprint for future workshops. Schneider Electric donated over £1,000 worth of electrical equipment, including Acti9 distribution boards, PowerTag energy sensors, and metering equipment. The support and donation aimed to provide students with the latest electrical products, skills and knowledge to drive the UK electrical industry forward.

270 electricians at Waltham Forest College had access to this one-of-a-kind workshop. To further facilitate the development of the UK electrical industry, the day was also open to anyone hoping to complete electrical training units.

“We are enormously grateful for the support and generous donation from Schneider Electric. It had a huge impact on the electricians here at Waltham Forest College and more widely the UK electrical industry,” said Craig Buist, at Waltham Forest College. “This workshop provided invaluable support for the next generation of electricians and it will hopefully kickstart more events like this across the UK. Students need access to the equipment to meet the demands of the industry, and this donation and event gave students the opportunity to work with products we could simply never afford. It is critical we invest in the industry right now and provide the latest equipment as the country goes through a period of great change with decarbonisation.”

Tom Gillam, Electrician Channel Manager at Schneider Electric, said “We were very proud to support this electrical workshop and help to empower the next generation of electricians and their educational bodies in the UK. We know the importance of this industry to the UK economy, especially as society itself becomes increasingly digital and electrified. It is vital that we invest in students by providing them with the latest electric products in the industry. We hope this unique hands-on experience will be the catalyst for more workshops across the UK, that it will help provide new opportunities and help improve electrical systems across the country.”
