Martyn Walley to head up Scolmore Group’s Technical Department

Scolmore has appointed Martyn Walley (pictured) to the newly created position of Group Technical Manager. A well-known name within the industry, Martyn comes to Scolmore following a four year term with Aico.

He brings a wealth of technical experience and knowledge garnered over a career spanning 29 years, which began with an apprenticeship with Midlands Electricity Board and has included roles with a number of leading organisations in the electrical, fire and security sectors, including ADT Fire & Security, Group 4 Technology and UTC Technologies.

In addition, he has considerable experience operating as a project manager on a number of high profile contracts and has worked closely with M&E contractors, HMRC and Local Authorities, with responsibility for projects ranging from £40,000 to £7m.

He will take overall responsibility for the development and implementation of a complete offer of technical support for all product ranges across the group portfolio of Scolmore, ESP, Unicrimp and the recently acquired Sangamo. This will cover new product development, compliance with regulatory requirements, technical feedback on market requirements, and development of comprehensive training manuals for both staff and customer requirements.

With his vast experience and knowledge of standards and regulations, and his membership of a number of trade bodies, Martyn will help provide Scolmore with an authoritative voice in the industry at a time when technology continues to create opportunities and at the same time the tightening of safety regulations is putting the spotlight on the products being specified for the construction sector.

Comments Martyn: “I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic and forward-thinking company as Scolmore. They have a fantastic reputation in the industry and as the company continues to grow, introducing new products and technologies, I am looking forward to the challenge of helping to keep them at the forefront in this highly competitive, technology-driven market.”
