Back to school for Scolmore

The doors to The Highfield School in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, are once more open following a £15 million rebuild, and thousands of products from Scolmore’s wiring accessories ranges have been installed as part of the development programme.

Scolmore’s Mode and Mode Part M sockets, as well as MiniGrid switch modules have been fitted throughout the The Highfield School, including all teaching areas and classrooms (around 60 in total), as well as corridors, foyers and staffrooms.

Mode Part M sockets, fitted onto Dado trunking around the walls of the classrooms, allow for regulatory requirements to be met, while at the same time offering a high standard of design and flexibility. With dimmable lights a requirement for all classrooms, Scolmore’s MiniGrid plates featuring retractive switch modules have been installed.

Mark Storey from electrical contractors, Integral UK Ltd in Newmarket, was responsible for installing the products and commented: “On a project like this, cost is always an important consideration, so we needed to specify a range of products that met all the regulatory requirements and also represented excellent value for money.

“With Scolmore’s products we were also able to provide a quick and simple to install solution and the contemporary, smooth profile of Scolmore’s Mode and Mode Part M products enabled us to achieve a more stylish finish.”

With the new building now open, work is due to commence demolition of the original school buildings which have stood since the1960s. The original school site will be turned into communal areas such as gardens, fields and a sports facility.
