A home grown smart solution for Scolmore

24-gang plates from the GridPro collection have been fitted at either end of the Visitor Centre at Scolmore Group’s headquarters.

Scolmore Group looked close to home when considering the product requirements for the expansion and redesign of its Staffordshire HQ Visitor Centre.

Opened in 2009, Scolmore’s Visitor Centre catered for up to 24 people and was designed to showcase and demonstrate products, as well as hosting internal meetings and presentations.

As the business developed, the requirement to invest in the Visitor Centre and showroom became a priority. Now accommodating up to 60 guests, the new facility – double the size of the original space – can host a range of events.

Lighting control was key – in terms of energy efficiency and the variety of lighting function and scenes needed. Products from across Scolmore Group resulted in a smart solution that would endure. These included Scolmore’s lighting and wiring accessories, as well as CCTV and emergency lighting products from Group Company, ESP.

The vast ceiling space was divided into nine main sections allowing for banks of lighting to be installed and controlled – with downlights at the centre and spotlights around the edges.

Scolmore opted for the Inceptor Omni fire-rated, integrated LED downlight with pre-wired driver and flow connector. Forty Omnis were installed in the ceiling and in pairs across the top of the product display pods.

Flexibility and ease of installation are vital attributes of the Inceptor Omni and features include an adjustable colour temperature switch, interchangeable fixed and adjustable bezels, as well as an insulation support clip.

Helping to attain the quick and easy installation of the lighting products was Scolmore’s Flow lighting management system, which was incorporated into the ceiling space. And the lighting control was achieved with Scolmore’s Click Smart system. From the GridPro collection, two, 24-gang plates have been fitted – one at either end of the visitor centre – bringing together all the lighting control components.

Other switches and sockets came from the Deco Plus collection of premium decorative metal wiring accessories.

Security is via ESP’s CCTV and emergency lighting ranges, including LED maintained emergency exit signs from ESP’s Duceri collection.
