NVC lights up Birmingham

NVC Lighting Limited, a subsidiary of China’s largest lighting manufacturer, has expanded its UK base at Rubery near Birmingham, with the official opening of new premises by Mr Wu, founder and Chief Executive Officer of parent company, NVC Lighting Technology.

NVC’s UK arm opened in Birmingham in 2009 and supplies commercial, industrial, amenity and exterior lighting products to wholesalers in the UK and Ireland. The success of the company is shown in its turnover which is set to hit £25 million by the end of the year.

The rapid rate of expansion at NVC in the UK has already seen the company grow from an initial staff of seven to over 70 permanent employees and this growth brings with it a real boost to the West Midlands economy with the company expecting to have created 250 new jobs by 2015.

The latest facility has been built on land acquired by NVC through a £5.5 million deal with Birmingham based Hortons Estate, which concluded last summer. It is adjacent to the company’s existing site and brings NVC’s total investment in the UK to £15m.

Garry Pass, director of NVC in the UK said: “We are delighted with the strength of NVC’s performance in the UK. With such a strong period of trading over the past three years, we are certainly looking to replicate in the UK the success of our Chinese counterpart, which has the largest share of the Chinese lighting market. Our dedicated staff work incredibly hard to ensure we offer the best products and best service possible to all our customers across the country.”
